Summary of the year 2024
The end of the year is a time for making new plans and reflecting on the past 12 months. A lot has happened at MUL! Here are the highlights of 2024:
- New Rector – on March 18th, the College of Electors chose the Rector for the 2024–2028 term. On September 1st, Professor Janusz Piekarski officially assumed the office of Rector.
- New Instagram account – also in March, we launched our new promotional account, @mulstudentlife, showcasing student life both on and off-campus. We already have 105 posts and 816 followers – thank you!
- CWUR Ranking – UMED ranked among the top 4.8% of universities worldwide according to the CWUR 2024 ranking. We secured 3rd place among Polish medical universities.
- MUL Siblings Day – for the first time, we organized an event to celebrate the unique bond shared by siblings, especially those studying together in a foreign country.
- Achievements in sports – students from the English Division won medals in the “XII Medical Badminton Cup BIBInKton 2024” and the “XII Polish Doctors’ Badminton Championships.”
- Graduation Ceremony – 138 graduates received their diplomas and began a new chapter in their lives.
- Student of the Year 2024 – this title was awarded to Ms. Julia Resch, a 6th-year student of the 6MD program.
- White Coat Ceremony – 4th-year MD and DMD students ceremonially wore their white coats, symbolizing their transition from pre-clinical to clinical years.
- Cultural Soiree – for one evening, the foyer at CKD transformed into a magical place filled with the aroma of international cuisine, music, and dance. Once again, we celebrated diversity and learned interesting facts about different cultures.
- Christmas Together – in a festive atmosphere, staff from the Centre for Studies in English and international students gathered at DS4 to participate in workshops on making paper Christmas stars, listen to lectures on holiday traditions, and enjoy festive dishes.
