Reflecting on Orientation Week 2025

From September 24 till October 5, the Administrative Center for Studies in English at the Medical University of Łódź organized an “Orientation Week” – a welcome program for international students beginning their studies in Medicine and Dentistry in the 2025/2026 academic year.

September 24 – 26

From September 24–26, students met with staff from the Center and senior students. Newly admitted students signed documents, logged into the Virtual University for the first time, got to know the mStudia app, and began forming new friendships. There were also interviews and conversations with student mentors from higher years.

September 29 – Academic Year Inauguration

On this day, students met with Prof. Sebastian Kłosek, Vice-Dean for English-Language Studies, as well as representatives from the Border Guard and Police, who discussed the rules of legal residence in Poland and safety issues.
The highlight of the day was the official Academic Year Inauguration, during which 76 students took the oath and were formally matriculated by Prof. Lucyna Woźniak, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation.

September 30 – Organizational Day at CKD

The event was divided into three thematic segments:

  • Student Essentials – led by representatives of the English-Speaking Students’ Council, covering key information about study regulations, learning tools, support groups, student organizations, and practical aspects of life in Łódź.
  • Academic Etiquette – a session with Prof. Radosław Bednarek, first-year coordinator for the Medicine program, who explained communication rules with lecturers and academic etiquette.
  • Cultural Workshops – an integrative part of the day where students learned about Polish history and culture and participated in workshops organized by the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Łódź.

At the end of the day, students toured the CKD campus, including the Institute of Dentistry, MOLecoLab, and nearby public transport stops.

October 5 – Discovering Our City’s History

The final part of the program was a visit to the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź. Students explored the exhibition “City–Fashion–Machines,” learning about the industrial history of the city.

Nearly 80 students from countries such as the UK, Ireland, Turkey, India, Zimbabwe, and Canada participated in Orientation Week. Unfortunately, due to visa procedures, some students are still waiting to arrive in Poland.

We sincerely thank all participants for their engagement and wish all students the best of luck in the new academic year!
