Admissions & Requirements
How can I apply?

When does the admission start and end?
The admission starts on January 15th, 2026. The application deadline is 7th of September, 9:00 AM (Polish time).
How many intakes a year do you have?
We have only one intake a year in October.
Do you accept transfer students?
No, we do not accept any transfers.
What are the general admission requirements?
For the admission we require high school diploma and transcripts, scan of passport and personal photograph. From some candidates we may additionally require English language certificate on minimum B2 level (list of accepted certificates) and recognition from NAWA. Please contact us at: admission@umed.lodz.pl and we will help you complete the required documents.
My final diploma is not out yet. Can I apply with my predicted grades?
Yes, you can apply with your mid-term grades or predicted grades.
Should I know Polish language before coming to Poland?
No, it is not necessary to know Polish before your studies.
I am under 18, are there any special requirements for minor students?
As a minor you will need a statutory representative statement filled out and signed by your parent.
I passed the entrance exam and got the acceptance letter. Can I defer my admission for next academic year?
We do not offer the deferment procedure. If you decide to start your studies next year, you will have to go through the entire admission procedure again, including the entrance exam.
I aleady have a BSc degree. Will it have any impact on my admission process?
No, holding a BSc does not change anything in the admission process, which is based on high‑school graduation documents. We do not take later stages of education into consideration. A BSc degree does not exempt candidates from the entrance exam, nor does it allow them to enter an advanced year of the program. Is there an age requirement for applicants?
No, we do not have any age requirements.
Do I need an English certificate if my education was conducted in English?
Even if your education was conducted in English, language competency must be confirmed by the respective certificates (LIST OF ACCEPTED CERTIFICATES) if:
- you are not EU, EFTA, Switzerland or UK citizen or
- you are EU, EFTA, Switzerland or UK citizen but your secondary education was conducted in system other than: IB, EB, OECD, EFTA, China (gaozhong certificate) or Ukraine (свідоцтво про здобуття повної загальної середньої освіти).
Can I use the Medium of Instruction statement from my high school instead of language certificate?
Unfortunately, Medium of Instruction statement cannot be accepted. We require certificates mentioned on the LIST OF ACCEPTED CERTIFICATES.
I am American/Canadian citizen, English is my mother language. Do I still need to have English certificate?
Yes, all candidates who are not EU, EFTA, Switzerland or UK citizens have to submit the English certificate (LIST OF ACCEPTED CERTIFICATES).
I live in UK and completed A levels, but I am not EU, EFTA, Switzerland or UK citizen. Do I need to submit the English certificate?
Yes, all candidates who are not EU, EFTA, Switzerland or UK citizens have to submit the English certificate (LIST OF ACCEPTED CERTIFICATES), even if your education was conducted in UK in English.
Is Duolingo English Certificate accepted?
No, we can only accept certificates mentioned on the list: LIST OF ACCEPTED CERTIFICATES.
Can I apply without NAWA recognition and submit it later?
Yes, you can apply without recognition and send us a confirmation of documents submisison from NAWA.
Is PREMED Course obligatory before applying for studies?
No, PREMED is not obligatory, you can apply directly to our 6MD program.
Fees & Scholarships
How much is the tuition fee?
The tuition fee for 6MD for students starting in 2026 is 15 100 EUR for the 1st year and 14 900 EUR for the years from 2nd to 6th.
Is there any application fee?
Yes, there is an application fee in the amount of 24 EUR.
Is tuition fee the same for EU/non-EU students?
Yes, tuition fee is the same for all students.
When is the first-year tuition fee due?
The first-year tuition fee can be paid in 2 equal instalments (7 550 EUR each). The first instalment should be paid within 2 weeks of receiving the Acceptance Letter.
Do you offer any scholarships?
Our studies in English are commercial and fully paid, we do not offer any scholarships or other forms of financial support to our students.
Do you offer any tuition fee discounts?
Yes, we have a sibling discount and discount for high GPA (both discounts applicable from the 2nd year of studies).
If I pay for the studies but get a visa refusal, will the University refund the payment?
Yes, the entire amount will be refunded.
Can tuition fee be paid in istalments?
Yes, tuition fee can be paid in 2 instalments: 7 550 EUR each. The first instalment should be paid within 2 weeks of receiving the Acceptance Letter, the second in February 2027.
Entrance examination
Is there any entrance examination?
Yes, there is an entrance exam and it is obligatory for all candidates.
What does the entrance exam looks like?
The entrance exam is an oral exam conducted online via MS Teams platform. It consists of 2 part: knowledge-checking part and interview part. For more information please check our website: https://studymed.umed.pl/admission/6-year-md-medicine/ms-teams-entrance-exam/
Can I get an exemption from the entrance exam?
Yes, some candidates can be exempted from the knowledge-checking part of the entrance exam. This exemption applies to candidates, who hold an IB, EB, or Polish Matura, as well as graduates of MUL’s Premedical Course who completed the course with GPA of 4.0 or higher.
How many times can I take the entrance exam?
The entrance exam can be taken only once, retakes are not possible.
Do A Level students need to take an entrance exam?
Yes, A Level students need to take a full entrance exam (knowledge-checking part and interview part).
When do the entrance exams start?
Entrance exam sessions start on March 5th. There are multiple dates for the exam available, an applicant can choose the one, which is the most convinient for him.
Which subjects are included in the entrance exam?
An applicant can choose 2 out of 4 subjects for the entrance exam: biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics. The choice is made while completing the application form in the registration portal. If you made a mistake and want to change the subjects, please contact the Admission Office.
Is the exam multiple choice?
The entrance exam is an oral exam and the questions are descriptive as well ans multiple-choice.
Program details
When does the academic year start and end?
The academic year 2026/2027 starts on October 1st, 2026 and ends on September 30th, 2027.
What does the organization of the 2026/2027 academic year look like?

Do I need to learn Polish during my studies?
Yes, Polish classes are included in the program of the studies and are obligatory.
Is the Medical University of Lodz accredited abroad?

Student Life
Does the University provide accommodation for the students?
The University provides limited number of places for the students in shared (double) rooms. For more information, please check our website: https://studymed.umed.pl/admission/accomodation/ Students who will not be able to book a place in University’s dorms will be provided with list of private dorms.
Does someone from the University staff pick up the students from the airport?
No, we do not provide such assistance. From major Polish airports you can get to Łódź by bus or train.
Can I visit the campus before I start my studies?
Yes, you can visit the Admission Office and make a tour around the campus and the city on your own. Please note that as a non-student you will only be able to see the public places, but not the phantom rooms, labs, classrooms etc. The campus is not in one place, check out our map to plan your visit: https://studymed.umed.pl/admission/university-campus/
Is Łódź a student-friendly city?
Of course! The student life in the city is blooming. There are 19 higher education institutions which make Łódź one of the biggest academic centres in Poland! Overall there are more than 70 000 students, including approximately 5 000 foreign students.
What is the currency in Poland?
The Polish currency is zloty (PLN). 1 zloty equals to ~ 0,22 EUR and ~ 0,24 USD.
How is the climate in Poland?
Climate in Poland is very differential. We have moderate temperatures in spring and fall but it can be really cold in winter (-15°C) and very hot in the summer (+35°C). Coming to Poland in the end of September/the beginning of October you may expect nice, warm and sunny days as well as cold, rainy and windy weather. Please remember to take some warm clothes with you as in November you may expect the first snow.
Is the library free for students?
Yes, the Library and Information Center is free for all MUL students and offers much more than just books: https://cib.umed.pl/en/
Visa procedures
I need an original Student Status Certificate for my visa. How can I get it?
To receive original documents required for your visa process (the student status certificate and the payment confirmation), you must arrange a courier service that will collect the shipment on your behalf.
1. Inform us that you require the original documents.
2. Wait for our reply confirming that the documents are prepared.
3. Arrange a courier to pick up your documents from our office at the following address:

4. Send us an email with information about the scheduled courier pickup.
I need a visa to come to Poland. How can I get it?
Find information about the Polish embassy in your country and check visa requirements on the embassy’s website. Check the dates available and make an appointment (beware of the limited number of hours available). Remember that you will need a booking confirmation of your accommodation. Thus, do not wait to book housing in Lodz, especially since the number of vacancies in dorms is very limited. It might take a few weeks for the visa to be issued, so do not wait and make an appointment as soon as possible. More information available here: https://www.gov.pl/web/diplomacy/visas
Post graduation
Is it possible to do the internship in Poland after graduation?
Yes, our students can do the internship in Poland in English language. The internship lasts 6 months and it is conducted by the University but separately from the studies: https://studymed.umed.pl/graduating-students-alumni/post-graduate-internship/
Can I obtain a medical license in Poland after graduation?
To obtain medical license in Poland you need to pass the LEK exam, the Polish language exam and complete the postgraduation internship.
